A large media publication has contacted us seeking comments about Kanye West joining Twitter. I can’t guarantee you’ll be quoted, but if you’d like to add a comment, I’ll pass it along, and send you the link if your quote is chosen.
Here are the questions they would like comments on:
1. Kanye’s Twitter has taken the web/pop culture by storm. Is there something particularly unique about his Twiiter style that has connected with people? What is he doing right in terms of social networking?
2. Kanye is tweeting at a crazy pace. Does he risk burning out too quickly? Can he keep it up?
3. Is there such a thing as tweeting too much?
4. Kanye has gotten in trouble before with saying or doing things without thinking about the consequences first. Does his furious tweeting put him at risk of getting into trouble again?

1. There is nothing unique in the way in which he tweets. The growth was significant when he first came back on and it has now tapered off and gone back to a linear slow growth. There is nothing in his content that connects with people other than a common misuse of the English language (someone please send him a dictionary or a link to one).
With regards to doing social networking right, there is no right or wrong. However, when in the public seat with the ability to lead and inspire, no one is going to be inspired by the materialistic tweets or the unfathomable blinging up of his bottom jaw. Great way to spend your money and connect with the common person… I’m sold!
2. He’ll grow tired of it quite quickly I’m sure unless of course he’s not done touring “Silicone Valley”. His first day on twitter was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen in moons. That was the worst blatant self promoted campaign!
When he gets behind the twitter steering wheel, I get off the road for the fear of being struck by an out of control vehicle.
3. Of course there is.
4. I do not wish anything bad upon the man, he’s climbed his way to success with tenacity and is a very talented individual, musically speaking, and to witness the buffoonery. It is a sad state of affairs when someone of his stature in the public eye enables us to become less intelligent with each tweet. There is one thing I am certain of, there is no thought of what he can give back to the world, the main purpose for him is to get something back.
One suggestion for him, adopt some of the principles of an ascetic and give up all materialistic surface related thought, concepts and objects. Channel that wealth and become a philanthropist. I doubt that will happen so instead, I find humor in his tweets and have formed a few that I particularly enjoy if no one else does:
RT @kanyewest: Shout out [insert influential person that can help bail me out PR horror] [insert really long url here]
Dear @OldSpice Guy…. @KanyeWest stinks to high heaven. Please send help. And a dictionary.
Impressed as to how @kanyewest gives new meaning to the term #twitterRich
Dear Mr @kanyewest – user names on twitter need to be all one word… eg.) @youareatool as opposed to @you are a tool
So I am thankful for the return of his presence on twitter. Turning your life around via twitter as he states, #ITSAPROCESS!
MTV’s article has been posted here. Sorry they didn’t use you. Thanks for the comments!
